JOINING THE UNION
The only way to protect and improve your wages and conditions is to become a member of the AMIEU. The Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union is the union that represents processing employees at Castlemaine.
As a member of the union you will have the protection of all the services that the union has to offer. These include: free wills for you and your family; representation by the union in any talks with the company about working conditions, incorrect payment of wages, unfair dismissal from your workplace, bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, and any form of discrimination.
UNION FEES ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE
Forms to join the union are available from your union works delegate Kevin Earl, or your union area organiser Jim Brittain who can be contacted on 0417590889.
REPRESENTATION IN DISCUSSIONS
If your employer wishes to discuss any work related issues with you, and if you are a member of the union, ask for a union delegate to be present at those discussions.
If the company say the union delegate is unavailable you should tell them to put the meeting off until the delegate is available.
DO NOT HOLD DISCUSSIONS WITHOUT A WITNESS PRESENT.
PARENTAL LEAVE
If you become pregnant and have had 12 months continuous employment with the company, you are entitled to take leave up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESIGN FROM YOUR JOB BECAUSE YOU ARE PREGNANT.
If you have any problems or questions please contact Kevin Earl or Jim Brittain
