Coca-Cola Karachi union protests against "Open Misery" of Coca-Cola Multan workers

14-07-2010 - IUF

Following the rolling protest actions at the Coca-Cola Pakistan head office in Lahore and Coca-Cola factories in Gujranwala, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan, another mass rally was held in Pakistan on 13 July - this time at Coca-Cola's bottling factory in Karachi.

The Coca-Cola Beverages Staff & Worker's Union Karachi gave a final RED CARD to The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Icecek, protesting workers’ rights violations in Multan, as well as corruption and fraud by management.

The union demanded that 'temporary' workers employed for several years on minimum wage and a 'no work/no pay system' be granted their right to permanent jobs at the Multan factory.

The protest denounced the "Open Misery" faced by hundreds of workers as a result of casualization, threats, dismissals and fraud by Coca-Cola Pakistan management.
